MySpace Suicide Indictment -There is more than that
As many of you already know, Lori Drew, of O’Fallon, Missouri was indicted with “with one count of conspiracy and three violations of the anti-hacking Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, in a case involving cyberbullying through a fake MySpace profile.” The interesting part is government used Myspace’s ToS for it.
That’s when federal prosecutors began working to build a case — a difficult task, given that there is no federal law against cyberbullying. On Thursday, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Los Angeles unveiled its solution by charging Drew with “unauthorized access” to MySpace’s computers, for allegedly violating the site’s terms of service.
Now, does it signify that government will start going after the companies that host terrorist related websites? Since most of them openly call to kill anybody that not one of them, post sickening pictures of throats being slashed and so on, will government use the hosting companies ToS to go after them ? Don’t forget that Hamas, Hezbollah, Al-qaeda and many other officially declared by US government terrorist groups host their websites in US.
